You gotta love when someone calls you and says they want to create a secret portal in their house. I said yes before I even knew the details.
For this project the client wanted to create a secret portal between their two girls rooms. The one side would needed to be flush with the wall so the wallpaper in the room could continue onto the door.
Creating anything flush with a plaster wall that is not flat to start with is always a challenge, let alone a circular door where the client did not want to see any hardware. To meet the challenge I created a custom pre-hung door that attached to a larger structural portal frame that was the thickness of the wall. This allowed me to shim the door to match the undulations of the wall.
